Located twenty miles from Whiteman, Sedalia offers more variety for shopping and entertainment. This town of approximately 35,000 was declared the home of the annual Missouri State Fair in 1899.  It is held in August and offers a special FREE military day.  Sedalia is also hosts the Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival. Historic Downtown Sedalia is a wonderful place to browse and shop for antiques.

Sedalia's Bothwell Regional Health Center is convenient to the base.  This 185-bed hospital, which opened in 1930, offers Emergency facilities and a variety of medical specialties.

Nature lovers will enjoy the Katy Trail State Park. It marks the beginning of the longest rail-to-trail conversion path in the United States. Hiking and biking are enjoyed along the 233 mile trail.

The State Fairgrounds also houses the State Fair Raceway which is used from May through September. Drivers from all around the country are drawn to the excellent track every Friday night.

Whether it is historical buildings or family fun, Sedalia gives you many options to enjoy your tour at Whiteman AFB.
