OK, I am here --- now what?

Arrival at a new Base is an exciting but worrisome time. Information on your new assignment will be the key to making your first days at Whiteman a pleasant experience. There are numerous resources which offer bits of information but we will place valuable information in one location so you can easily navigate through the arrival process.

Getting to Whiteman

Arriving at the Airport

The nearest major airport to Whiteman is Kansas City International. It is approximately 85 miles away. If no one can pick you up at the airport you should plan to take the train or bus to Warrensburg then continue on by taxi cab. Or, a favorite alternative, is one of the shuttle services which offers service from the airport directly to billeting on the base. That is the quickest, easiest option. For those who choose to rent a car at the airport: follow I-435 East to I-70 East then proceed for approximately 55 miles till Highway 13 South which you follow for about 18 miles till you reach Highway 50 East. Follow Highway 50 for almost 10 miles and you will see an exit for Whiteman AFB (also marked for Knob Noster and for the State Park). After exiting go South (right) for about two miles and the base will be on the left. If you are traveling the route at night please take care as there are many deer along that road.

Driving Yourself

If you are driving yourself to Whiteman your best option is to find I-70 from either East or West it will lead you to Whiteman. If you are coming from the West please see the directions under Arriving at the Airport. If you are arriving from the East take I-70 West for about 150 miles till Highway 65 South. Follow Highway 65 for almost 20 miles to Highway 50. Take Highway 50 West for approximately 20 miles till you reach Knob Noster. Exit on Highway 23 which is marked for Whiteman Air Force Base. Follow it to the south and you will find Whiteman.
