So many important new details to figure out so we are here to help! Take a few minutes to browse through some of the information we think is valuable for you to know upon arrival in Colorado Springs.

**Peterson has two telephone prefixes.  They are: (719) 556-XXXX (replace XXXX with base extension) and (719) 554-XXXX (replace XXXX with base extension). The DSN prefix for numbers with a 556 exchange is 834 and for numbers with  554 exchange is 692.

**The units at Peterson are collectively called Team Pete.

**Peterson AFB was established in 1942 at Colorado Springs Municipal Airport as the Colorado Springs Army Air Base.

**Base speed limit is 30 mph, unless otherwise posted.  The speed limit in base housing is 15 mph.

**Vehicles must be registered with the base within 72 hours of arrival, by visiting the Visitor Center in Bldg 1820.  Be prepared to show your proof of insurance, registration, and driver's license.

**Only the West Gate is open 24 hours.

**Sponsors can secure a General Delivery box by presenting a copy of newcomer's orders to the Postal Service Center.  This is the forwarding address for those without a permanent address:

Be sure to stop in the post office to pick up your mail when you arrive.

**Those residing in the dorms or TLF must register and leave their firearms at the Armory (Bldg 1376).  Base housing residents do not need to register with the Armory.

**The base has broadcasting system called the Giant Voice which broadcasts reveille and retreat as well as pertinent weather warnings. 

**Should there be base delays due to snow, the information will be updated by 5:30 am on the Peterson Snow Info Line (79.556.SNOW)
